Hello! My name is:
Sierra Claire
Born and raised in southern Oregon, I got very good at entertaining myself and my sister. Safe to say there wasn't much to do. I fell in love with the many art forms that came together in Musical Theatre, and this love led me to pursue the path in college. During my University experience, I starred in three University shows, one community show, and one show in a professional company. As a recent Graduate from the University of Montana, that curiosity for art still shines. This journey can be described as a search for one thing: my unique artistic voice. What better way to share my passion than to teach?
Fun Facts: I have three cats and a dog, I've driven across the country four times, and my favorite color is Lilac!
What Can I Teach?
Voice Lessons
I've been singing since before I can remember. From songs in school, to choir, I couldn't get enough! I started my individual voice training late in high school, and made the most of private lessons all through college. The variety of repertoire I have studied from has shown me how to work through any problem with technique. I plan to share these tools and encourage problem solving within a students own voice work.
Acting/Public Speaking
Believe it or not, I am an introvert! Public Speaking has never come easy to me, and is one of the biggest lessons I've learned in the arts. The secret? Fake it 'til you make it! Cliche? Definitely, but it works. The biggest focus of the work should be preparation, then when it's time to speak, you let it go and fake it! I will give students the tools to both prepare and practice their work, and help them gain the confidence they deserve.
Breathing Techniques
Breathing should be the easiest thing in the world, right? If you're reading this, you are breathing. Did you know that in learning breathing techniques, you can improve lung capacity, sleep, and coping mechanisms? I will teach you the basics of breath, and how to improve different areas of your life by simply doing the bare minimum-Breathing.
Mission Statement
A Voice of Clarity
In a world filled with noise, it can be hard to make your voice heard and even harder to get your message across. Sometimes our voices mesh with the noise, instead of being a single thought from an individual. The thought of getting any artistic message out to the world seems... impossible. I seek to provide the tools to find the one thing that can cut through the chatter.
Clarity.
In exploring our voices, we can learn to appreciate the boundaries set by our bodies, and push outside the comfort zones we cling to. This reveals our unique voices, and a confidence in the work behind it. Confidence in the voice, with an understanding of our bodies leads to Clarity.
